I just made the most delicious lasagna, and I am so excited to share the recipe with all of you! This beef and sausage lasagna is the perfect comfort food, and it's sure to please everyone in your family. To start, preheat your oven to 375°F. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook 12 lasagna noodles until they are al dente. Once they are cooked, drain them and rinse with cold water. Next, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook 3/4 pound of ground beef and 3/4 pound of Italian sausage until they are browned and cooked through. Drain the excess grease, and then stir in 1 chopped onion and 3 cloves of minced garlic. Cook until the onion is translucent. Add 1 28-oz can of crushed tomatoes, 1 6-oz can of tomato paste, 1/4 cup of chopped fresh basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper to the skillet. Stir everything together, and then let it simmer for 30 minutes. Now it's time to start layering! In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread 1 cup of the meat sauce on the bottom of the dish. Layer 4 lasagna noodles over the sauce, and then spread 1 cup of ricotta cheese over the noodles. Top the ricotta with 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese, and then add another layer of meat sauce. Repeat these layers until you've used up all of the ingredients, making sure that the last layer is meat sauce. Cover the dish with aluminum foil, and then bake for 25 minutes. Take off the foil, and then bake for an additional 25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. And there you have it - the perfect beef and sausage lasagna! Serve it hot with a side salad and some garlic bread. Your family is sure to love it.
